ANDALUSIA: COAT OF ARMS

The coat of arms of Andalusia bears the image of the Pillars of Hercules and adorns the mythical Greek hero and son of Zeus Heracles (Hercules) taming two lions who are thought to represent power and animal instinct. It was designed by Blas Infante in 1918. Renowned as "The Father of Andalusia," Blas Infante was an idealist, writer, historian and national hero.
